A Day at the Pond

I wanted to showcase one of my variegated yarns and decided to also design a new cowl pattern.  It’s going to be called A Day at the Pond, featuring my “DragonFly Dreams” colorway.  I’ve gotten good at “frogging”, which knitters call ripping out a project because we typical say, “rip it, rip it” which sounds like a frog ribbetting. Funny huh?  The reason I’ve had to rip my design out a few times is because some of the stitches created too loose a fabric and the ribbed edging flipped up onto the stockinette and it wouldn’t lie flat. Well, I’ve fixed it by having a ribbed design.

Walking and knitting
Walking and knitting in the sunshine!

I was walking in the neighborhood and thought, why not knit?  My pattern stitch repeat is only 12 stitches and three rows so it’s very easy to memorize.  The only issue I found was that I kept knitting past my third row because I was enjoying knitting and walking so I had more knitting to frog.  Oh well, I was knitting right?!

I like the pattern because it’s breaking up the colors in the yarn so they don’t pool together.  I hope to have this posted on Ravelry by the end of the month and will post when it’s available.
